I think I like the idea of doing a Waldorf Wednesday as a nice break right in the middle of the week. On these days, we’ll focus on more “unschooling” type things like gardening, baking, watercolors, and “work”.
After a quick story time at the libary, we started out in the front yard. Ronnie “painted” the porch with some water while I replanted some things and cleaned the windows.
We took a break when we noticed this bumble bee hanging out on the succulents, so we went inside to observe. Ronnie enjoyed watching him walk all over the plant searching for nectar. Thanks to The Cat in the Hat, Ronnie already knew exactly what he was doing.
Once we got back to work, Ronnie started watering the plants. I’m trying to cure my black thumb, so this is all experimental! We’ve got lettuce, carrots, lavender, stevia, ferns, gardenia bushes, pumpkins, and a lemon tree growing successfully so far. We took a few minutes to discuss why the baby plants need the mister on when watering – so we don’t destroy them with water pressure!
We also put the pumpkin plants into the ground so that they can spread out and grow some more!
I had planned on doing some baking (maybe blueberry muffins?) today, but we ended up taking it easy and getting some organizational projects done around the house instead.
