This week will be a bit of a review for some of the things we have done before, but it will be a nice break for your little one to do some familiar activities.
Today is Presidents Day, George Washington’s birthday. Printout this coloring page at crayola.com to spark a discussion about presidents. Keep it sweet and simple, though!
Encouraging Literacy: Take a trip to the library. Check out some books about a topic you’re currently working on with your toddler. Here’s some of my picks:
- Hands Are Not For Hitting by Martine Agassi
- A Potty for Me! by Karen Katz
- I Love You Through and Through by Burnadette Rossetti Shustak
- Don’t Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus! by Mo Willems
- Peas and Thank You! by Big Idea, Inc.
Transferring Activity: Grab two plastic cups and some drymacaroni. Fill one of the cups with the macaroni and show your toddlerhow to pour them from one cup to another. You may want to have a bigbucket to catch any macaroni that doesn’t make it in the cup. Don’thave macaroni on hand? Use dry beans instead of macaroni.
Pom Play: Use this practical life activity to help your toddlerlearn how to sweep up a mess. Spread some poms out onto the floor ortable. Give your toddler a broom and dust pan to sweep up the poms anddump them into a bowl or bucket. You may want to demonstrate this onceor twice first. Is your kid a pro already? Take it to the next level- have your tot sort the poms by color.
