Today was a nasty hot day, so it stands to reason that the storm we got tonight would be an angry one. We had just put Ronnie to bed with his sippy cup full of chamomile tea and honey. I was laying in our bed with Wade as he slowly drifted off after a relaxing nursing session. All of a sudden, the sky lit up and BOOM! The loudest thunder I have ever heard! As soon as the noise subsided, a blood curdling scream came out of the room at the end of the hall. This is the first time a storm has ever scared Ronnie, so I ran as fast as I could to get to him and scooped him up into a tight hug. He cried, “I’m scared. I’m outta here!” His matter-of-factness gave me quite a chuckle. I brought him to bed with me and Rob sat with him for a minute to calm him and cover his ears for more thunder. I held his hand for a while and he looked over and said “I love you so much mommy.” Its nights like this that remind me of how blessed I truly am.
My life isn’t perfect. I fight with my husband, I lose my patience with the kids, we wonder how we’re going to pay all the bills and save enough for a future, and often things don’t go my way. But, I have the perfect family for me. Thanks to Him.
